New Beginnings

KPMG, a leading professional services firm which offers audit, tax and advisory services, prides itself on responding to clients' complex business challenges with impeccable service across industry sectors and national boundaries.

KPMG Australia committed to 14 levels of the purpose built Site 6 at King Street Wharf, Sydney, with Multiplex NSW as the design and construction contractor. Occupation was scheduled for January 2004.

The relocation consolidated the real estate profile of KPMG by centralising the corporate identity of the new Sydney office. The identity of the firm was reflected through the decision to utilise a clean and neutral colour palette, developed by the design team, Woods Bagot.

The new offices for KPMG required a flexible systems furniture solution to support their business and respond efficiently to changing work processes, new technologies and growth.

The fitout required in excess of 1500 settings including workstations, meeting rooms and office furniture. Schiavello provided and accommodated for every role and responsibility within the KPMG corporate structure, with supply progressing over a period of seven months from May 2003. Schiavello accommodated the need for modularity by supplying eight different types of workstations for workpoints and offices.

Having collaborated successfully with Schiavello two years ago on the development and redesign of KPMG's Singapore offices, Schiavello responded effectively to this creative brief that called for accommodating a broad range of requirements, while maintaining the flexibility and modularity for future work place change.

For Schiavello, the goal of the project was to develop a combination of tile based and desk based furniture that would meet with KPMG's current and future needs. Schiavello utilised Ultimet to create a modular, streamlined and elegant work environment that exceeded both the functional and aesthetic requirements of the fitout. Schiavello was also required to provide a custom designed desk-mounted privacy screen incorporating the Admet sliding mechanism.
