Our commitment to world’s best practice infiltrates everything we do, and this includes the environment which is one of Schiavello’s corporate imperatives. We recognise having a responsibility to respect and protect the environment, to minimise waste and emissions, use environmentally sustainable materials, and create quality products that are also environmentally sound.
Because of these concerns, in 1997 we developed and implemented a set of environmental principles that go beyond the industry standard. Schiavello’s Environmental Management System, which includes our own Environmental Rating Tool [ERT], aims to reduce materials, energy, waste and emissions which have since decreased by more than 20 %.
Recognising the importance of green building principles, and organisations’ desire to inhabit maximum Green Star-rated premises, Schiavello has engaged a growing team of Green Building Council Australia (GBCA) accredited professionals. This means that there are people across each of our divisions that can assist clients achieve their environmental building objectives.
Moreover, we also rate each of our products in relation to the Green Star Materials Calculator, ensuring client’s know exactly how effective our products are in achieving the requisite Green Star points.
e-cycle®: maximising our sustainable furniture offerings, Schiavello has recently implemented e-cycle®, an environmental program that re-acquires Schiavello furniture at the end of its life to recycle, or reuse and resell, as a way of reducing material consumption churn. The incorporation of such pieces into a project can ensure maximum Green Star credits. |
